It's 25 years since seatbelts became mandatory and the Department of Transport reckons they have saved an estimated 60,000 lives and 670,000 Serious injuries since their use by Drivers and Passengers was made compulsory on Jan 31st 1983.
The BMA would remind people that to belt up at the back has been compulsory since 1991 but, while 9 out of 10 agree that not belting up is Dangerous, only SEVEN in TEN actually Belt Up for the Journey.
Fifteen Drivers and Front seat Passengers are Killed every year because REAR PASSENGERS ARE NOT BELTING UP,and it is VITAL !!!! according to The Department Of Transport.
