NEW PARKING RULES

12 Jan 2008

The new parking Ticket Rules come into force on 31st March 2008,and according to the AA the number of fines will rise, not only in the amount given ,but now we are in line for different types of parking fine from £40 to £120.

BMA believes that councils up and down the country will all have a different slant on how the rules will be interpreted, and will Mororist be Advised that the right of Appeal.

The body that adjudicates on fines  have admitted a rise in the appeals will rise by 20%!

The Traffic Management act, will, the BMA believe will create at least Five differing Pay bands each incorporating a Higher and a Lower level which as we se it will allow the local Councils in the UK to be subject to one of the Five Bands, and the penalty imposed will depend on the offence in question, for example -a lesser offence will be OVERSTAYING in a Pay & Display.

The more serious of fines is parking on a Double Yellow or in a Disabled Bay, for this the estimate is over Three quaters of all serious Fines will be issued, The big question is how is the Councils and local Authorities going to be geared up to this, and will they act Fairly.

There appears to us that a Two tier system will be run, as if one piece of legislation was bad enough now we have TWO,and we have the potential for complete Chos as for the first time the councils outside London will be able to issue fines using CCTV as evidence.

THEY  WILL BE ABLE TO ISSUE TICKETS WHEN A MOTORIST HAS DRIVEN AWAY-AND NOT PLACED ON THE VEHICLE!

Rosie Winterton The Transport Minister say's this is was a vital step as "some people see a Warden and quickly drive off and it was a danger to other vehicles and pedestrians, so we will allow Wardens to issue tickets even if somebody is in the process of driving away"!

Is this far and Just- and what do we Drivers think- is this just another way of getting Money out of us Motorist or is this the way forward-Yet another taxation system

Will the Appeals Notices be dealt with properly ?

Fines in London are to be the most expensive from £100 to £120 - Outside London The Rise will be £70 from £60, and the lesser fine will be £50- Ms winterton say's these fines are "more transparent and consistant"and help to ensure those issued are "fair and justified"
