Royal Mail trials zero-emission vans
15 Jun 2007
Royal Mail is to take delivery of a number of zero emission vans from UK manufacturer the Tanfield Group.
Two vans - one of each model the company produces - are to be leased to the postal service for a trial period.
A spokesman for the Tanfield Group said the company expected the trial to prove successful and lead to more orders. "Royal Mail is an ideal customer for us, as they do a lot of depot to depot operations covering relatively short distances," he said."Therefore, we would anticipate they would be looking to replace a large proportion of the fleet, should the trial be successful," he added.
Royal Mail has a fleet of more than 33,000 vans and commercial vehicles - a potentially lucrative client for firms such as the Tanfield Group.
In related news, the Tanfield Group recently announced that it was having to double production at its plant to ten units a day to cope with rising demand.
